NCCS going strong with CAMWorks in Australia and New Zealand
N C Computer Systems, a leader in offering CAD/CAM and manufacturing solutions for over 500 Australian and New Zealand companies, showcased the release of CAMWorks 2009 at Austech 2009. Austech is Australia's leading trade show for manufacturing technology and advanced manufacturing held in Melbourne from May 12th to 15th, 2009.
Visitors to our booth displayed immense interest in the software showcased, and it was obvious that they were wanted to know more about CAMWorks.

CAMWorks is being used at Victoria University of Wellington, NZ
Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand has been using CAMWorks for the last four years. It forms a part of their core course for third year Industrial Design students' CAD/CAM project, which investigates direct control of milling textures and patterns by the designer.
Tim Miller, Senior Lecturer at Victoria University says, “This project has been very successful in the past, with the students learning a considerable amount about CAD/CAM milling in a very short period of time. I gave a paper about this unique project at an international conference in Eindhoven titled 'Beyond the Smooth: CNC Machining with Meaning'. I would like to continue to use CAMWorks as the software offers the students an immense amount of control in a very user friendly manner. The CAMWorks stage of the project is vital to the learning objects of the course. We feel this is an important aspect for our design students learning”.

| Leading Australian company Olympic Group uses CAMWorks to automate CNC Machining |
 |
Olympic Group specialises in a large range of commercial and residential aluminum products, which include suites of sections for the manufacture of commercial framing, shopfront partitions, roll formed flyscreen, barrier doors & window components, cast grilles, shower screens, wardrobes, balustrade, louver systems, standard geometric & exclusive extrusions, sheet and associated products.
|
Olympic Group procured a German-make CNC Machining Centre for their tool room, and it was the responsibility of Theo Harris, Workshop Manager, to find a suitable CAD/CAM software that would make the best use of the machine. After exploring the options available with the major CAD/CAM vendors including the high-end vendors, Theo decided to implement CAMWorks. This was based on the study and reviews of the ease-of-use and the Automatic Feature Recognition ability existing within CAMWorks. With just two days of training from NCCS Australia, Olympic Group was all set to get going. During the evaluation process, Theo noticed that the key differentiating feature of CAMWorks, as compared to other CAM products, was the ability to automatically recognise the features from a SolidWorks model and machine them automatically.
|
| Currently, Theo is working on customising the Tech Database functioning in CAMWorks, which will automate his work even further. |

| Geometric partners with The CAD Academy |
In June 2009, Geometric finalized a partnership with The CAD Academy, a marketing firm specializing in the educational CAD/CAM field. They, together with our educational distributor Career and Technical Training, LLC, have put together a suite of products called Design for Engineering (DFE) Academy, which will be heavily marketed to every educational facility in North America. DFE Academy consists of SolidWorks, CAMWorks, and DFMPro, and is marketed as a complete curriculum (inclusive of textbooks, lesson plans, and certification tests).
