Import CAMWorks Data from Part to Assembly

For repeat jobs, one may want to combine multiple previously machined part documents into an assembly. These parts may be nested with other parts, multiple times in different assembly files. CAMWorks provides the option of adding the part along with the CAM data into the assembly, thereby, reducing programming time, improving efficiency, and increasing productivity.

To import the part with CAM data into the assembly, add the parts to the Part Manager, then Right click on the part name under the Part Manager, and a dialog box as below opens:

On selecting Import Part Data, the dialog box shows three Import options:

  1. Delete existing data will replace the existing CAM data with the one imported from the part document
  2. Merge with existing data on selection allows addition of CAM data to the current CAM data for the part
  3. With Merge setups, features and operations in the same Setup will be merged on both the imported part as well as with existing Setups

Select OK. Browse to the part with CAM data and select it. The CAM data is imported into assembly and setups are created accordingly.
