“While doing some testing with CAMWorks 2009 64-bit, I was pretty amazed with what I saw. I selected a part that took about an hour to calculate the toolpath in CW 2008. I split the roughing into two operations, one operation completed the top half of the cut, and the next operation completed the lower half of the cut. The objective was to take advantage of the multi-threading capabilities. Running CW 2009 32-bit, the job was accomplished in just over 28 minutes. When running CW 2009 64-bit, the job was completed in under 9 minutes! A reduction in time from about an hour to under 9 minutes… very impressive!

An additional benefit was the ability to see the percentage of completion with the new process manager. I'm very impatient when it comes to tool path calculation. The process manager gave me some tension relief by knowing where things stood in terms of completion.

I can’t say how well 64-bit is working in every other regard, but this looks very promising.”
