Learn how to copy your operation

The CAMWorks Operation tree allows you to copy an operation in the same Setup.

While pressing the CTL (control) key, click the operation you want to copy,, and drag the item to a different location in the tree.

You will notice that the cursor changes to indicate the copy made.

Here is an example to copy Rough Mill1 that illustrates this step.

  • Press and hold down the CTL (control) key
  • Using the left mouse button, click Rough Mill1 and drag the operation on top of the Mill Part Setup1.
  • Rough Mill2 is created and displayed above Rough Mill1 in the tree

When an operation is copied, an exact copy of the operation is created. For mill operations, this includes contains, avoids, and all operation parameters (e.g., the tool, all operation parameters, leadins/leadouts, machining depths, entry types, entry points). For turn operations, this includes all operation parameters and the insert/holder. The features machined by the original mill or turn operation are also assigned to the copied operation.
